Recycling at your New Home! - Tuesday, February 22, 2011

 Consider This

  • We throw away enough aluminum cans each year to rebuild a commercial airline fleet every 3 months!
  • Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run your TV for 3 hours!
  • We throw away enough office paper each year to build a 12 foot high wall of paper from New York to Los Angeles.
  • We throw away enough plastic soda bottles each year to circle the earth four times.
  • The U.S. is the #1 trash-producing country in the world at approximately 1,600 pounds per person/year.
  • By recycling 1 ton of paper, we save 17 trees, 7,000 gallons of water, 463 gallons of oil, 3 cubic yards of landfill space and enough energy to heat an average home for 6 months!!!
  • Recycling: It’s the right thing to do and it’s easy to participate.

Do a search online to find out if you have recycling in your neighborhood.  if you don't have curbside recycling first call your local municipality and demand it, then find out where there are collection locations near you and take it there.  Locations are easy to find online.  Help stop the waste!

Radon Gas - Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Radon Gas - In January of 2004, the HUD home inspection form for FHA loans (HUD 92564-CN) was modified to include information on radon content in indoor air. This form (updated again in June of 2006) is mandatory for all FHA-insured mortgages, which means a good portion of buyers may request a radon inspection as part of the home inspection process. To find a radon service professional, visit www.epa.gov/iaq/whereyoulive.html.
